President
Hello! My name is Magdalene Goward, and I am a grade 12 student living in the Interior. This is my 5th year with HCOS and my first official year on the student council. I am very excited to be learning to lead this year in the student council and am grateful for the opportunity!
A bit about me: I am the fourth of five children, and have two adorable but frisky cats. During my free time, I play the harp, draw, listen to music or read. Some of my passions are learning new things and solving problems, especially in math, physics and astronomy. I love looking at the beautiful sky through a telescope.
After I graduate this year, I plan to pursue further education at a post-secondary institution and get my Bachelor of Science.
I joined the student council because, as an online student, I don't have many opportunities to connect with other students. Additionally, HCOS has made such a difference in my life, and I would love to be able to give back to the school. I want to grow in my leadership skills and create a positive change. I hope to share God's light with other students and foster an encouraging learning environment to follow in Jesus's footsteps as leaders.
Vice President
I'm Axton McGoran, an upcoming entrepreneur and dedicated boxer with a passion for building systems and solving complex problems. I take the discipline I've learned through my hardships and apply it to business, technology and leadership. I want to push for innovation, bring the latest technology into our school, and create opportunities that prepare us for the future.
Secretary
Hello! My name is Aria Spark and I’m an 11th grade homeschooler.
I was born in Calgary, AB but moved before I was one years old to a hobby farm North of Kamloops. I am the fourth of six siblings and have learned the fun, love and struggles that come with being homeschooled our whole life. Growing up my love has grown for the different farm animals we have had come and go on our little place. Along with caring for our small herd of sheep and other pets, I enjoy taking piano lessons, reading and cross country running. Going into my teenage years God has taught me the importance of kindness and patience, as well as dedication to push myself towards the next goal. Being homeschooled has given me the flexibility to do the things I love as well as learning from them.
Although I do find being homeschooled has given me fewer opportunities for leadership, which
is part of the reason I decided to join this course. Another reason was to meet more students in the school and learn to collaborate with them. I hope student council will teach me to become a better leader as well as honour God in the process. I cannot wait to get to know my classmates and watch God’s plan as we grow in leadership and teamwork. I feel blessed to be a part of this school and course. Ecclesiastes 9:10 says "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might".
Social Media Manager
Greetings! My name is Sean Forbes and I’m a grade 12 online schooler. I was born in the Bahamas and lived there for the first ten years of my life, before moving to Florida for a little while and eventually settling in BC. I am the firstborn in my family and I have one sibling. I’ve been involved in quite a few extracurricular activities but I’ve always found my strengths to reside in the digital space, as technology (although usually more specifically gaming and game design) is my passion.
I believe that there is a goldmine of opportunities laid out for us in the digital world that we have yet to explore. It makes me wonder what Apostle Paul would have to say about how we as believers approach it. My goal this year is to take the tools laid out for us and use it to try to spread a little good into the digital space, and I look forward to doing so! One click at a time.
Yearbook Editor In Chief
Hi! My name is Amber Bisschop, and I’m a Grade 12 student living in a small community in the Interior of BC. This is my ninth year with HCOS and second year on the Student Council. I’m excited to be serving as your Yearbook Editor-in-Chief for the 25/26 school year! I love using creativity to capture those special moments that make HCOS unique, so working on the yearbook is something I’m really excited about.
Outside of school, I’m the oldest of five – I have three sisters and one brother – which means there’s always something crazy going on at my place. In my spare time, I enjoy baking, reading, writing letters, and listening to music. I also love spending time outside having bonfires with friends, quadding, and target practicing.
Being a part of the Student Council has given me the chance to contribute to our school’s community, meet amazing people, and learn valuable leadership and teamwork skills. I’m looking forward to making this school year one of the best ones yet and creating a yearbook that will truly reflect our values, memories, and school spirit!
As always, I’m available to answer any questions and hear any comments and/or ideas you might have for the HCOS Student Council. Click my name to reach me by email.

My name is Jadon Arndt; I live off-grid in a small town located in Northern British Columbia. I was born in Abbotsford, BC but moved to Northern BC before I turned 1. My family consists of my dad, mom, younger brother (who also attends HCOS) and myself. I enjoy hunting, fishing, trapping, and baseball. However, those are only a few of my favourite hobbies some others include cooking as well as photography. My family and I also have 3 cats and a dog, I really enjoy observing animals both wild and domestic predominantly to see how magnificent God’s creation is. My favourite classes in school include Life Sciences 11 and Photography 11. Another thing about me is that the most important thing in my life to me is my walk with God. I look forward to serving on the HCOS yearbook team and raising awareness about what we are doing.
Yearbook Layout Editor
Hi! My name is Rachel Ackermann. I’m 15 years old, in Grade 11, and have been homeschooled with HCOS since Grade 2. I love my home in the Interior of BC, and absolutely enjoy every part of its hot summers, whether I’m swimming, playing volleyball, painting with water colours, or just hanging out with friends. I live on a bee farm with my parents, four siblings, one cat, seven kittens, and two German Shepherds, and I love the outdoorsy lifestyle it brings!
I play piano and violin and have participated in a few
Kiwanis Festivals for both instruments. This year, I’m also playing volleyball for the HCOS team. I dream of traveling the world and becoming a midwife one day, so I spend much of my time building the math and science skills I’ll need for university. My favorite subjects are Biology, Social Studies, and Art, which I honestly enjoy the most. I also love water colouring and designing little cards for a small business my friend and I started. A love for design and color has always been part of me, and being able to design and layout the yearbook is a true privilege. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my creativity with you!

Grade 10 Representative
Hello! My name is Eunice and I’m thrilled to be on the Student Council as a Grade 10 Rep this year! I transferred this year to HCOS for grade 10. Math, science, and art are my favourite school subjects, and I dream of pursuing a career in medical science someday.
Outside of school, I enjoy many different hobbies and extracurricular activities like painting, volunteering, cadets, playing and listening to music, and even dabbling in writing webtoons. I value God’s creation greatly, and I enjoy taking nature photography and hiking. Quite recently, I tackled the Grouse Grind!
I joined the Student Council to build friendships, learn leadership skills, plan great activities, and most importantly, learn to be a “servant leader” as Jesus was. I’m so excited to get to know my peers, and I know this year will be a great one! I’m always open to connect with you all, so feel free to reach out! I’d love to hear from you.
